This is my first blog and doing all this for a new Malyalam film i saw few days back.. Kayyoppu ...
After a suicidal exam we went to see any kind of movie and ended up at kairali thetre after having biriyani at shahi darbar.
T here was no mood for any decision making and went directly to the first theatre saw at front.
Kayyoppu was really unfamiliar and havent see any promos in channels or sites...Any way it was the film byRenjith which pushed us inside...
It started off in a 35mm screen with Mammootty in the first shot crossing a busy road.. This type of intro to him was interesting after seeing the boring extravaganza used for LAL in Babakalyani...
there was pure silence and the film moved smoothly...
T he way the story was told by Renjith is beautiful which makes you feel like reading a novel... In the beggining film depicts a few great writers like Kafka and Neruda...Later the film enters into the day to day life of Mammotty in a hotel room..There he lives in between shelves of book, a lodge keeper trying to make him buy a mobile and an old man waiting at the phone room for a call from his home....
The story is about an half written novel by balan(mammotty).. A renowned writer appreciates him reading the story and asks him to complete it.. Mukesh is a publisher who encourages balan to complete it.
I n between he gets a call from his old college mate (khusboo) and they cherish the memories of old campus days... She sends him a mobile as a gift and he learns its basics from his lodge keeper..Jaffer Idukki...H e has done well this time..which is unusual...its told with an essence of humour.
Mukesh meets khusboo in middle and she tells mukesh abt balan and the stuff inside him...she recites a poem once written by balan whuch was stolen by his hostel mates and written over the canteen walls...
The poem made my eyes wet..godamnn i dont know why..maybe the total silence or the mood of the day...
it goes like this
" Avar avasana attazham vilambunnu
Raavu mayumbol ,
kolakkathiyude moorchayil
Soorya thapam jwalikkubol
Pidanju chaavan nammalundavarudu.
Ente pranayame
Namukkee irulmarayil
parasparam kombukuthi chavam"
she says that the students never allowed to white wash that area of wall for a long time...
Balan is helping a small girl at calicut who is suffering from serious disease..She is a good artist and balan asks her to send him some pictures drawn by her and sends 1000 rs for each picture...
The divorce story of khusboo and the life paradox of the small girl moves his writers block and he starts writing,,,
Khusboo who once had an heart for balan again starts loving him and balan recognises the truth in it...
He arranges an operation for that girl(a muslim girl) by selling his land ....
H e finishes his novel and decides to fly away to the life which calls him, along with khusboo..They plans to go Mahabalipuram ,where they went at campus days as a class tour..
T he day he starts to calicut to hand over the money ,a police raid comes at the hotel for some smuggled weapons..They arrests the lodge keeper who is a muslim ...
Mammootty goes to the police station to check the reason and the scene over there is taken beautiful...Police makes him wait for hours and keeps him in custody for no reason...They breaas his mobile and shouts at him...
He then delivers some dialogues at the police..
"I do thanks for Abdul who typed this whole dialogue in malayalam for his blog on the same..
Finally he reaches calicut with the money for operation and the story to publish ...
Finally H e ends up at a bomb blast at calicut bus stand.. with all people waiting for him
I am sure that i couldn deliver 5% of the feeling that i got from the film...But if you get any chance please dont miss it...
Its a simply told movie reminding us the value of humanity and true love in middle of this disturbed world... all of them have performed well.Still existing as an hard core fan of Mohan Lal ,i was amazed by seeing mammootty as balan..he was not acting...he was living...
SO PLEASE SEE IT...
